Testimonials

Sir Lenny Henry, Comedian/Actor

“The Comedy School take ‘It’s No Joke’ into schools for kids to watch and enjoy whilst also having a massive educational take-away… Carrying a knife is not particularly clever and I think that anything that pushes this message home is really, really important - it’s a brilliant initiative and your support will help The Comedy School carry on this great work.”

Neil Morrissey, Comedian / Actor

“The work of The Comedy School is paramount.  As far as I’m concerned it's the artist version of boxing school.  Comedy comes out of the lives of people and their experiences, so using it to deliver and communicate serious messages is as cathartic as it is informinative and entertaining.  As a juvenile behaving badly myself, the attention and praise I got from performing was very rewarding.  What The Comedy School does is really worthwhile and long may it continue.”

Phill Jupitus, Comedian / Broadcaster

“I think there's a lot of unnecessary and conflicting mystery surrounding comedy.  Many people think performing is easier than it is, and just as many think it's a lot more difficult.  The range of work The Comedy School carries out sorts out both of these misconceptions and is the perfect place to play with ideas, no matter how wild they might be.  It's great to have a benefit that can have such an immediate impact.”

Neil Mullarkey, Improviser/ Actor/Trainer

“The Comedy School is a unique organisation which uses comedy to enhance people's social and communication skills whilst entertaining and educating audiences in ways that really engage.  I am very happy to support the School because this work is vital for our society.  There is nothing better than people laughing together.”

Karen Hayball, Deputy Head of Year 9, La Sainte Union Catholic Secondary School, Camden

“Our pupils not only enjoyed the experience but really started to consider this important issue. It has led to some excellent discussions within their PHSE (Personal Health and Social Education) lessons. With recent unfortunate events in the news connected to this topic, your play was an invaluable resource to prompt discussion and clarify the legal status of carrying such weapons.  In a recent review of the PHSE programme by our pupils, all identified this as the most enjoyable and informative part of the course.  Seeing  the success and reaction of our pupils to your work, we would love to work with The Comedy School again.”

Richard Taylor, The Damilola Taylor Trust

“The Comedy School uses humour and performance to communicate essential messages to children and teenagers in an easily accessible and non-threatening way.  In the years I have been working with Keith and his team, I have seen the value of what they do.  For example, the play It's No Joke gets across the seriousness of the message it conveys in a way that makes schoolchildren listen and feel involved.  The response I have seen from those watching it and the authorities has been nothing but positive.”
