The Comedy School presents:
The 10th Annual

Funny Festival
A Comedy Festival in a day

These are the details of our most recent Funny Festival on Sunday November 29th 2009
- See you next year for the next one

in Camden, London

With Special Guest Hugh Dennis

Serious about Comedy? So are we. If you have just started in comedy or have an interest in making people laugh then this day is for you.

We have put together a group of some of the best names in comedy to run workshops, take questions and to try to put you off - I mean encourage you to further develop your career or interest in comedy!

Packed full of activities that will keep even the surliest cynic amused, discover some of the secrets to comedy whether it be as a stand-up, improviser, comedic actor or writer.

Get practical advice from the experts, practice your skills and learn new ones.

This day is not just about sitting down and listening, this is a 'get up and have a go day' and, apart from the talky bits, it is fully participatory!

Confirmed comedy performers attending (subject to work commitments) are Adam Bloom, Arnold Brown, Ivor Dembina, Stella Duffy, Mr Cee and Neil Mullarkey of the Comedy Store Players.

Also Mick Barnfather, a member of Theatre de Complicite, will present highlights from his unique workshop entitled Clown and Comedy.

Tim Arthur, Comedy Editor of Time Out, Rob Grant, creator of 'Red Dwarf', Steve Bennett editor of Chortle.co.uk and Dr Chris Richie of Southampton Solent University, together with Louise Grainger and Mike Day from Equity, will bring their particular expertise and advice to the discussion on 'How to Get Started in Stand-Up Comedy...'

Andrew O'Connor will present a workshop on "Producing New Comedy Initiatives", together with Greg Day of Clout Communications. Actor, comedian, magician and television presenter, Andrew O'Connor is Executive Producer of Objective Productions, a company he established in 1996, which currently produces a wide variety of television entertainment, including The Kevin Bishop Show, Derren Brown, Balls of Steel, Peep Show, The Real Hustle, and Star Stories.

The BBC's Sarah Hughes will be popping in to talk about Comedy Casting - and she and her BBC colleague Derek Barnes will be conducting practice audition sessions. Each participant must prepare a piece of no longer than 3 minutes and will be given valuable feedback, advice and constructive criticism. Only 12 places available for this instruction in Audition Technique. Book soon for this option as these places go quickly.

Also secrets will be revealed about the art of publicity by Anya Noakes and Greg Day.
With some 25 years experience in the film and television business, Anya Noakes has worked with a wide range of performers and writers - from Gwyneth Paltrow and Penelope Cruz to Jo Brand, Amanda Holden and Anne Robinson and many more. Her many clients include Hat Trick Productions (Outnumbered, Have I Got News For You) and Plum Pictures (James May's Toy Stories, Wayne Rooney's Street Striker).
Greg Day has been Senior Press Officer at Channel 4 and a Head of Publicity for FIVE. He is currently a director of Clout Communications. Amongst the many performers he has worked with are: Derren Brown, Kevin Costner, Jack Dee, Jo Brand, Clive Anderson and Paul Merton.

AND FINALLY... our special guest Hugh Dennis will complete the day with a Q & A session, hosted by Neil Mullarkey
