The Comedy School presents:
The 8th Annual

Funny Festival A Comedy Festival in a day
Sunday November 25th 2007 saw our biggest and busiest Funny Festival yet. You can see the details of that day on this page. We are already looking forward to our 9th Annual Funny Festival in November 2008!
Serious about Comedy? So are we. If you have just started in comedy or have an interest in making people laugh then this day is for you.
We have put together a group of some of the best names in comedy to run workshops, take questions and to try to put you off - I mean encourage you to further develop your career or interest in comedy!
Packed full of activities that will keep even the surliest cynic amused, discover some of the secrets to comedy whether it be as a stand-up, improviser, comedic actor or writer.
Get practical advice from the experts, practice your skills and learn new ones.
This day is not just about sitting down and listening, this is a 'get up and have a go day' and, apart from the talky bits, it is fully participatory!
Confirmed comedy performers attending (subject to work commitments) are Adam Bloom, Junior Simpson, Arnold Brown, Felix Dexter, Suki Webster, Ivor Dembina, and Neil Mullarkey of the Comedy Store Players.
Also Mick Barnfather, a member of Theatre de Complicite, will present highlights from his unique workshop entitled Clown and Comedy.
Bill Dare will present a new workshop, "Producing New Comedy Initiatives" - Bill is the producer of various popular programmes for the BBC, including The Mary Whitehouse Experience, Spitting Image, Dead Ringers, The Now Show and The Late Edition. As BBC's Script Executive of TV & Radio Entertainment he
has been the point of contact for script development.
Roland Muldoon, former Artistic Director of the Hackney Empire, will give his perspective of this venerable venue, and Louise Grainger and Mike Day from Equity, will bring their particular expertise and advice to the discussion on 'How to Get Started in Stand-Up Comedy...'
The BBC's Sarah Hughes will be popping in to talk about Comedy Casting - and she will be conducting practice audition sessions. Each participant must prepare a piece of no longer than 3 minutes and will be given valuable feedback, advice and constructive criticism. Only 12 places available for this instruction in Audition Technique. Book soon for this option as these places go quickly.
Also secrets will be revealed about the art of publicity by Anya Noakes, publicist for Hat Trick, Hartswood Films, Granada Television, Carlton Television and a number of major films, as well as Press Director for the London Film Festival and Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival. Her individual clients include Jimmy Nesbitt, Armstrong & Miller, Dara O'Briain, Andy Hamilton, the Hairy Bikers and Louis Theroux to name but a few...
